The son of local celebrity, TV Anchorman Michael Baldwin, died this past Saturday when he was, apparently, smothered by his collapsed babysitter.
Theresa Coffey, 39, who had long begged Baldwin for the chance to care for his son, suffered from medical problems possibly related to her being overweight. 5'6" and about 200 lbs., Coffey was found slumped over the one month old infant by Baldwin. He had returned home in response to Coffey calling him, asking for help, but he had missed her call and was unable to reach her afterward. She was found clutching her prescription medication.
"...I just had this funny feeling she was on top of him." Baldwin recounted to reporters yesterday. He had searched the house for his son after discovering the unconscious caregiver. The two were immediately taken to Huntington Hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.
